Painter/Sculptors: Nicole Eisenman, Tracey Emin, Dana Schutz: Curated by Jeremy Strick
Alternating between painting and sculpture has proven germinative for each of the three artists, as they retrace personal history and experience, address broader social concerns, and build upon and reshape the legacies of art history.
Painter/Sculptors: Nicole Eisenman, Tracey Emin, Dana Schutz brings together major works by three of the most prominent artists working today, focusing on their mutual shared pursuit of painting and sculpture. Alternating between painting and sculpture has proven germinative for each of the three artists, as they retrace personal history and experience, address broader social concerns, and build upon and reshape the legacies of art history. Curated by Jeremy Strick, and drawing on loans from the Green Family Collection, other private collections, and the artists themselves, the exhibition offers--for the first time--the opportunity to view the work of these three artists in depth and side-by-side, comparing their respective approaches to figuration and the ways in which each moves between painting and sculpture.
